March 21, 2010: Healthcare Vote: Health Care Bill Details and Health Care Vote Results Coming to Close! Healthcare Reform 2010
Sunday evening was host to a procedural House vote, passing Obama’s health care bill 244 – 206, giving Democratic leaders the edge they need to truly pass the bill. Obama's top priority, would issue a $2.5 trillion change in the healthcare system, putting a stop to refusing insurance to people with pre-existing conditions. In addition, the bill would also extend health coverage to those uninsured (around 32 million), covering 95% of Americans.
Earlier in the day, Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) was quoted saying amongst fellow Democrats, "This is a historic day, and we are happy warriors. We will be a part of history, joining Franklin Delanor Roosevelt's passage of Social Security, Lyndon Johnson's passage of Medicare, and now Barack Obama's passage of healthcare."
