Each year around this time, the world is threatened by some unheard of disease that's incurable and could potentially become an epidemic. We had SARS which originated in Asia, Swine Flu from Mexico and now the "Superbug" that's made it's way from India to Britain.
"Many hospital infections that were already difficult to treat have become even more impervious to drugs thanks to a recently discovered gene that can jump across different species of bacteria. This so-called NDM-1 gene was first identified last year by Cardiff University's Timothy Walsh in two types of bacteria -- Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli -- in a Swedish patient admitted to hospital in In
dia" (Yahoo! News).
Researchers warn that we could all see the "Superbug" and that there may not be a vaccine to prevent it or medication to treat it.
Some people feel strongly that these public health issues are just a ploy for drug companies (and maybe the government) to make more money. However, news of these risks can be alarming, and proper precautions (if available) should be taken. Also, any abnormal symptoms should always be brought to the attention of a doctor.

Another aspect that we, from South Asia region, are thinking of is - perhaps this could be some kind of rumor spread by privately owned hospitals making big money through services such as cosmetic surgery and who are getting apprehensive as money they have been making in the past is heading towards poorer countries, i.e. India and Pakistan.
Moreover, i see no point in comparing it with H5N1 or similar diseases. It’s sad to see that world’s major media houses are making such a fuss about it.
Though, not a medical personnel, what i beleive is that "evolution is in action"..let it take its course and maybe we will endup mutants.
perhaps, like Orwell said some people are more equal than others
Now we will have to see what kind of impact it will create?will the foreign tourists avoid visiting the region?
and then there is this blame game..is it because westerners were too careless thus finding this bug its way to this region?
