If the planet is sick......can we be healthy? I actively support rainforest preservation and encourage others to do the same. Why? Because rainforests are critical to climate stabiity for one thing. And they are home to plants that hold the keys to health and wellness for another. Yet, rainforests are under siege from agribusiness, mining, lumber and oil industries. Why would you care? Because, if you care about your health and the health of your children then the health of the planet is important to you too! If you want to know more about why rainforest preservation is vital to all of us, please go to:

I'd rather support aid agencies by sending charity gifts to those in most need. As it's Christmas soon I'll be sending charity christmas cards (recycled paper of course) and thinking about other ways to support healthcare charites and aid organisations.

That's great, Amanda, there are many options and the more we choose to do -- the better! Like you, I also support charities and non-profits who are devoted to making our world a better place. It's good to give, isn't it!

I just added an article to gather health - "what is high blood pressure?" By using automatic machines people can check if they have high blood pressure at home without the need for using old fashioned syphgmonamometers and a stethoscope to take the readings accurately. After making some lifestyle changes (especially eating a lot less salt) I have been watching my blood pressure go down by measuring it at home. High blood pressure is the major cause of heart disease and can only picked up by measuring it.

It's only recommended to use the Tamiflu if you've been diagnosed with the flu. The fear we have in the medical profession (I am a healthcare provider as well) is that people start taking Tamiflu without even having the tru flu, it could cause the swine flu strain to mutate and become resistant to the Tamiflu, leaving even less treatment options. Tamiflu does not "cure" the flu; don't get it confused with antibiotics. Antibiotics will actually kill the bacteria and make you better. At best, Tamiflu, which is an anti-viral, may help your body recover one day sooner from the flu than if you took nothing. If you or your kids have direct contact with someone who is diagnosed with the swine flu (ie a child in your children's class whom they sit near is diagnosed), they could take the tamiflu to try and prevent themselves from coming down with the flu. The better option than taking tamiflu would be to get your annual flu shot this fall, get your children vaccinated, and then get the swine flu vaccines for your children first and then for yourself if they are available. There is a "herd" phenomenon that happens when a large group of people get vaccinated, it actually can help protect those who don't get their vaccine, to an extent, from becoming ill w/ the flu. Hope this is helpful!

Have you wondered where to find a good range of Hemorrhoid Treatments or Piles Related Products? I've created a website that contains a substantial amount of saved pages from my favourites folder, no need to scour the internet. A majority of the hemorrhoids products and treatments have item descriptions to some extent but more than enough to make a good decision about what to buy. If you would like to view our page, come visit us at http://hemorrhoids.havaread.com

Many children love to play with First Aid Kits. Why? Simple. The majority of First Aid Kits come in a small suitcase or box – they often have a handle or a clip lock. Things that are special and valuable come in boxes with handles or locks!

Hey Gather family, its me Josh, just checking things out and noticing that the overall message that is never mentioned in health much is that the body needs to be detoxed and cleansed at least every other month! Now ask yourself when was the last time your body was cleansed....its just like a car, you must change your oil and keep the tires rotated to keep it running well correct?? well lucky me, my father is LEE HANEY, 8 time MR Olympia, (greatest bodybuilder ever!) but he has lived in nutrition and fitness all his life an has developed a great detox which helps replenish the body after it gets rid of all the waste and toxins within it, leaving your feeling refreshed and not drained like some of these hollywood detoxes that flush the good and the bad out of the body, he also has products that help with the aging process...well enough about me ranting, check out leehaney.com to find out more info, or tune into totaleefitradio.com to listen to conversation and call in to ask your own, thanks!!!!!

one of my physicians put me on a supplement regimen that is made up of minerals that will help my body flush out toxins. a hair analysis showed that i had high levels of aluminum and a few others! who knew! so now i am in the process of "the process" of purging these toxins. i'm trying to be patient and wait for this process to finish so i can finally start losing some weight! any encouragement is welcome!

Hi, Elizabeth... I am going thru the same thing you are now... I have been having problems with chronic candidiasis for the past two years and despite my best efforts can't seem to turn it around. I had a hair analysis done just recently which indicated high levels of mercury, lead and arsenic. I was quite alarmed when I read the report initially, but after a chat with my naturopathic dr was encouraged that there are actually methods to rectify these levels. I had actually lost 35 pounds without much effort since putting myself on the candida diet. Mercury is implicated in candida, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that decreasing the levels may be the beginning of a somewhat normal diet once again.

I have found a great resource for people that want to buy acai berry products. There are a lot of scams in selling these type of supplements online. You can read on this acai berry scams site how many scam programs are and how they trick customers.

I came onto the net to spread word of a new paradigm in health. All I have found is closed minds and huge waves of negativity. People trapped in their stories of sorrow.
Therefore I resolve to "give up". I wish you all find what you are seeking. I leave you with a lost opportunity.

I lately had problems with hemorrhoids. I choose to change my habits, started doing exercises each day to lower my vein pressure and I also started to eat more fibers. I have searched some hemroids resources on internet, I was really satisfied to find a lot of information on hemorrhoids treatment.

This blood pressure site has lots of information about how to choose and use a monitor properly to get accurate readings. If you would like to know more about monitoring your own blood pressure at home visit there is this free fact sheet "How to Measure Blood Pressure" an easy to follow but comprehensive guide to using an automatic blood pressure monitor.

PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR NURSE-
AN OPEN LETTER TO: Pres. Barack Obama, Esq. Surgeon General Sanjay Gupta (or other appointee) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Nancy Ann Deparle PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR NURSE Anyone who's been hospitalized (or attended at the bedside of a hospitalized loved one)already knows the emotional support and common sense informational support provided overwhelmingly by nurses over and above that received from physicians. And the daily bailiwick of nurses includes helping the hopeless to fight one more round and even suicidal ones to feel their life's value. In spite of the great fulfillment, very livable pay, and blessed job security, I and many colleagues I share constantly with feel ashamed and embarrassed about the way this national health care system (HCS) delivers care, especially inside the hospital and at the door. We train for years with safety as our top priority and then go to work where we have to decide a dozen dangerous shortcuts in every shift just to make time. Across-the-board PROGRAMMED UNDERSTAFFING, as an unspoken nation-wide administrative habit, is one of the most dangerous consequences of our pay-to-play HCS and a taproot of medical errors. The worst part may be the insurance-driven decisions about the extent of care for an individual patient. In the Level I Trauma/ Cancer/ Transplant/ Peds/ Burn/ Psych (i.e. everything) hospital where I work, I am an R.N. in the "Float Pool" working mostly weekend nights and am therefore all over the building. It's TYPICAL that I work on one weekend with a patient on a step-down unit who is just out of critical care and scheduled for discharge the next day or so due to insurance DRG's, but patient and family say he/she is still too sick! The next weekend, I see them returning thru the ER after days of suffering --- perhaps almost dying! Third and fourth is another double whammy in the ER --- always crowded and slow due to being a substitute for lack of primary care; then we treat them with a focus on 1-3 day survival (if they have no coverage to support admission), NOT impacting a root problem. And of course, there's the massive problem of ACCESS in EVERY delivery venue. This is the Stone Age of health care! Let's join the advanced nations of the world in caring for our people and realizing that health care is a PUBLIC GOOD. Note that the oft-cited bugs in those other single-payer HCS's relate to having a big pay-for-play kid (U.S.) peeing greed in the pool. We spend enough on health to care for everyone but without caring for everyone. A single-payer system whose top priorities are CQI and spreading care to everyone will realize savings enough to retrain the insurance workers (as health techs and other careers) especially if the government negotiates drug prices like every other entity. Single Payer is a tide to LIFT ALL BOATS and would bail out the automakers and other industrials possibly WITHOUT gifting them any more taxpayer billions. Now objectors always say (1) they don't want government between them and their doctors, directing what the care should be --- but that's the position private for-profit insurers are ALREADY standing in making those decisions for the sake of the companies' bottom lines. At least government would be making those decisions with a focus on CQI and spreading care to everyone. And Objectors say (2) "This is Socialism!" --- What we have now is "neglect-ism" and it's so shameful that I for one avoid working full-time at the hospital because it's so objectionable. Health Care, like compulsory public education and good highways, is something that requires universal access to benefit the whole society and the whole society suffers consequences because special interests disdain universal access and use fear triggers like "COMMUNISM!" to taint the debate. A population secure in its health care will be unfettered to focus on PRODUCTIVITY and also make better financial decisions in other areas of household management. And a government focused on service to the people rather than the "INFLUENCE BUSINESS" cannot continue to accept a HCS that taunts those in need of care. A TRUE reform plan --- one that kisses no toes in the insurance industry and addresses costs of medical education and meds a la Conyers' Universal Health Care Bill, H.R. 676 --- will bring us as a national family into the family of advanced nations. I will not be back in D.C. (and thanks and kudos to the President and entire transition team for an uplifting inaugural experience!) until March 13 for a N.A.H.R.O. housing conference housed at J.W.Marriott, but I'd appreciate the opportunity to offer more points or expand on those above via phone at 352.278.8510 or online at tanacabana@yahoo.com. I just thought I would share an interesting observation regarding migraines for me. I seem to get them when the sky is pure white, no fluffy clouds just pure white. apparently on these days, the UV rays are the highest as they are held in which is
what you sense with the glare effect it gives. This light play is what gives me my migraine so I try to stay in those days, dark glasses for sure if I go out and a hat to shade. MaryBeth |
